Why install the app?

Everything in N3XUS works in a browser — photos, files, backups, system health, your whole account. The desktop app exists for one reason, and it’s a big one:

  • Plays your original files untouched — 4K HEVC, Dolby Vision, TrueHD and DTS-HD — with no conversion.
  • Uses almost none of your server's processor, because nothing is being re-encoded.
  • Hardware-accelerated decoding, so your laptop stays cool and quiet.
  • Keeps running in the tray, remembers where you were, and responds to your keyboard's media keys.

Requires Windows 10 version 1809 or later, 64-bit. If Windows shows a SmartScreen notice on an early build, choose More info → Run anyway.
