The money is spent up front

Subscriptions spread the cost into amounts small enough not to notice. Owning your storage means paying for it at the start, and it takes time to come out ahead. The audit tells you roughly how long, using your own bill.

Drives are priced separately, and honestly

Drives are a real cost — from about $21.19 per terabyte at current retail. We don't bury them in a headline figure, and we don't mark them up beyond what they cost us to source and fit.

A network drive is not a backup

Redundancy protects against a drive failing. It does not protect against fire, theft, flood, or deleting something by mistake. Setting up a second copy elsewhere is part of every installation, not an upsell.

This doesn't replace your streaming services

Nobody can hand you a streaming catalogue. What changes is what happens to the films, shows and photos you actually own — they live in your house and don't disappear when a licence lapses.
